Millennium Chambers is pleased to report a successful outcome secured by Tom Price KC and Bill Evans, who successfully represented Archbishop Doye Agama following a five-month trial at Southwark Crown Court.
The prosecution alleged that Archbishop Agama had received substantial payments from a Nigerian businessman to facilitate the payment of bribes to his sister, a former Nigerian Government Minister and former Head of OPEC, in connection with the award of oil industry contracts.
Following a trial lasting five months, the jury acquitted Archbishop Agama of the allegations on 17 June 2026.
Tom Price KC and Bill Evans represented the Archbishop throughout the proceedings and were instructed by Daniel Cundy of Blackfords Solicitors.
Millennium Chambers congratulates Tom Price KC and Bill Evans on securing this successful outcome following lengthy and complex proceedings.
