Millennium Chambers is pleased to announce that Chrishmal Warnasuriya joins as a Pupil Barrister on 17 September 2025.

Chrishmal is an international practitioner with over 25 years’ experience in Sri Lanka and the UK, and since 2022 has been appointed as Counsel before the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague.

He has appeared in numerous high-profile cases primarily before the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal of Sri Lanka, in addition to his work in the UK.

His achievements have been recognised both nationally and internationally:

  • Named one of Ten Outstanding Young Persons in Sri Lanka (2008) for legal accomplishment.
  • Recipient of the US State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program Award (2014) as a “Future Leader.”
  • Twice nominated to Parliament in Sri Lanka (2015 & 2020).

Whilst commencing pupillage in England & Wales, Chrishmal also leads a busy chambers in Sri Lanka, supervising junior counsel and managing complex, multi-disciplinary teams and his clients in Sri Lanka range from State to Corporate entities; with his specialization in a range of commercial, civil and public law work.
