Millennium Chambers is pleased to report a successful outcome secured by Kira Chana, who obtained the acquittal of her client following trial on allegations of dangerous driving.

The case arose from a multi-vehicle incident on the M1 motorway involving a 44-tonne fully laden HGV. The defendant faced a charge of dangerous driving, with the prosecution alleging that his manner of driving fell far below the standard expected of a competent and careful driver.

During the trial, Ms Chana conducted detailed cross-examination of the attending traffic officer, challenging both the factual basis of the allegation and the conclusions drawn regarding the standard of driving. Following the evidential stage of the case, the prosecution sought to add an alternative charge of careless driving.

After hearing the evidence and submissions, the court acquitted the defendant of both dangerous driving and the alternative allegation of careless driving.
